Other Land Trusts

The Land Trust Alliance: LTA hosts a web site that is an excellent resource for information about land trusts. LTA is an umbrella organization which provides the public with information about land trusts, and provides organizational support for land trusts. LTA is also organizes the largest annual land conservation conference, known as the LTA Rally. LTA may be found at lta.org.
Kachemak Heritage Land Trust: This is the oldest land trust in Alaska, based in Homer. Their well-designed web page has general information about land trusts and land conservation options, as well as specific information about KHLT: KachemakLandTrust.org.
The Greatland Trust: This land trust is based in Anchorage. They may be reached at GreatLandTrust.org.
Southeast Alaska Land Trust: SEAL Trust is based in Juneau, and may be reached at SoutheastAlaskaLandTrust.org.
Nushagak/Mulchatna-Wood/Tikchik Land Trust: This land trust is based in Dillingham, and may be reached at NMWTLandTrust.org.
The Nature Conservancy of Alaska: This is the Alaska state branch of the international organization. Their mission is biology based — they are most interested in preserving rare or endangered species, communities and ecosystems. Their role in Alaska is mostly working with large landowners (the State, Federal Government, and Native Associations) to maximize the biological benefits of land transactions and management decisions.
